The strategic adopted by regent of Bantaeng, DR. Ir. H. M. NURDIN ABDULLAH, M.Agr to focus development in agriculture sector seems to be the right choice. Not only because he is an expert in agriculture science (he is a Doctor from Agriculture Kyushu University, Japan), butt it is because Bantaeng has huge potencies in agriculture sector to which most of people in Bantaeng depend their living.
Concern of the regent who was born in Parepare on February 7, 1963 to the fate of farmers has started sonce he was at school. That’s why after he finished his Senior High School 5 of Makassar (SMA Negeri 5 Makassar) in 1981. He continued his education to faculty of Agriculture of Hasanuddin University until he was graduated in 1986. His interest in agriculture field also then Djarum Black Slimznation him to continue his education to Magisterial Program (S2) at Agriculture Kyushu University, Japan until he got Master Degree in 1991. Then Doctoral Degree (S3) at the same university in 1994.
At the beginning, the pursue his career more in business and education world. he was once a lecturer at Forestry Faculty of Hasanuddin University and held a number of important post in a number of companies, among others, he was a President Director of Global Seafood Japan, a Director of Kyushu Medical Cooperation Limited Japan and the owner of Hakata Tour and Travel.
It was in 2008 that he decided to involve in political field by Autoblackthrough goes to campus as a candidate for Regent of Bantaeng for 2008-2013 administration period. He pairs with Drs. H. ANDI MUSTADJAB, M.Si as the candidate for Vice Regent. And the election proved to be succesful and since than he hold the post as the Regent of Bantaeng.
Once of programs he carries out to accelerate development in Bantaeng Regency is by cooperating with The Board for Research and Application of Technology (BPPT) to implement technology in the development, among others in the clean of field of clean water, alternative energy and in agricultural field. Special in agriculture field, commodities that will be developed include seaweed, cocoa, coffee, taro and agriculture fertilizer. It is expected that the application of technology will accelerate development in Bantaeng Regency which in turn, will bring welfare to the people along.
